Brief Overview

We are hiring a Safety Engineer who will be responsible for the technical implementation and monitoring of health, safety, and environmental measures, with a strong focus on robotics, automation systems, and warehouse operations. The role ensures compliance with European and local regulations (e.g., EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, national OSH laws) while supporting safe design, installation, and operation of automated systems

Key Responsibilities

Institutional development and implementation: Develop and implement EHS management systems and processes in the field, regularly inspect the effectiveness of implementation, and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
Reports and captures metrics for regional safety performance.
Audits & Inspections: Perform regular site inspections and internal audits; coordinate external audits, implement corrective measures, and promote continuous improvement.
Inspection and CA approval: Conduct regular workplace risk assessments (RI&E in NL, DUERP in FR, etc.), supervise the rectification of illegal operations, and ensure the safety and compliance of operations; Approve and supervise hazardous operations to ensure controlled management of high-risk operations.
Supplier supervision and management: Strictly control the compliance of outsourcing contractors' construction, sign safety construction agreements, supervise the safe execution of the construction process, and promptly correct and report any violations. Ensures external parties acting at Hai sites are meeting same level of safety expectation as Hai employees.
Training and drills: Organize three-level safety education for new employees, verify the certification status of special operations, conduct EHS training and emergency drills, and enhance employees' emergency response capabilities.
Near Miss/Accident Investigation: Participate in the investigation and analysis of safety accidents and near misses, write investigation reports, and promote the implementation of rectification measures.

Who are we looking for?

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
Professional certification preferred (e.g., NEBOSH, TÜV Functional Safety Engineer, or equivalent).
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in safety engineering, ideally in automation, robotics, or manufacturing.
Knowledge of EU machinery safety directives and ISO standards for robotics.
Fluent in English; additional European language (Dutch/German/French) advantageous.
Exceptional communication, influence, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to travel globally and work across diverse teams and time zones
Based in Europe with travel up to 50% / Primarily in Europe, but with some International travel
on call support
After hour availability for emergencies
